NEW for 2021! The United Home Audio Ultima5 Audiophile Tape Deck
NEW FOR 2023
The UHA Ultima5 Tape Deck
All UHA decks have DC motors!
Much more speed stable and reliable than 40 year old AC motors with complex bearings that can fail!
Our Goal:
The goal at UHA has always been to employ an audiophile philosophy of playback and recording to the legacy audio format of reel to reel tape.
Why resurrect this old format?
Because so much of the music we like was originally recorded onto R2R tape, so why not play it back without manipulations or conversions to another format? With the right tape a UHA Tape deck allows you to recreate audiophile tape playback as close to the original performance possible?
UHA Tape Decks come in three configurations for 2019 / 2020, the Phase11, Phase12, and the Ultima5.
Any of the three UHA Tape Decks can be purchased with an Outnoard Power Supply, (OPS-DC) that converts AC from the wall to DC current and that allows the UHA decks to run on 100% DC power!
There is no AC inside the deck whatsoever, allowing the music to come alive with dynamic surges of powerful sound in a 3D soundstage.

The Ultima5 Tape Reproducer features an all new head amp design employing new electronic components that have just become available on the market.
This is not a 40 to 60 year old tape deck with circa 1960 head amps featuring “Sansui Receiver” type electronic components and design.
All new UHA ULTIMA5 Preamp Design.
Exciting new component parts have allowed a sonic breakthrough on the ULTIMA5!
The new ULTIMA4 preamp was a step back and all out assault on what could be accomplished with the output of the finest 1/4″ tape head in the world and a preamp designed specifically designed for the new UHA tape head. It has been 3 years in development and the work of two high end audio engineers, there have been several configurations that lead to a breakthrough in design that resulted in the ULTIMA5 Preamp.
Soaring crystal pure highs, dynamic midrange forces, and subterranean hyper pure bass notes that will send your system to new levels of performance. The type of sound that only tape can produce has now gone to a new level.
The ULTIMA5 is the complete package, a highly stable tape transport with all DC motors for the ultimate in speed stability and the best dedicated supporting playback components available.
This gives that last measure of purity noticeable in the upper midrange and high end. The Pro Tascam deck we chose for the UHA-HQ decks allows for a signal cable from tape head to the preamps of only about 3″. This ultra short signal path further cuts noise in the audio signal path. We use “single crystal” double shielded cable to give that last layer of a quiet pure signal off of the tape head.
This along with the new Ultima5 preamp provides the ultimate in dynamics from the highest to the lowest frequencies.
Here are just some of the features on this deck.
1.) All New Pure Class A and Fully discrete gain stage circuitry.
2.) New high dollar voltage regulators designed to work specifically with the new UHA Pure Class A circuitry.
3.) Each gain stage has it’s own power filtering capacitors for even delivery of filtered power.
4.) New high capacity diodes.
5.) New grounding system, (signal and also chassis grounds) that significantly reduce noise.
6.) The new UHA Tape Head for both recording and playback.
These heads are made only for UHA and cannot be purchased for any tape deck. The UHA playback head is low output to employ less windings resulting a cleaner high end than other tape heads can generate.
7.) Very short signal path between the tape head and the head amps reduces noise.
8.) New Mu-Metal shielding at critical points inside the deck reduce noise. The tape heads also sit in a mu-metal shielded enclosure.
Tape heads are optically aligned and bolted to the headblock so they will stay aligned for good.
9.) New internal wiring.
10.) New Furtech XLR’s and WBT RCA’s.
11.) New toroidal power transformer in the deck just to drive the new head amps.
Many more specific audiophile components, parts and philosophies were used in the Ultima4 deck, just too much to list…

Comments from a owner who just upgraded his Phase12 to the Ultima One OPS-DC:
Oh my, where do I start? Just incredible.
I don’t know what is doing what, but the synergy of all the changes you made are breathtaking. It is so dead quiet and so pure sounding, you just want to keep cranking the volume because there is no distortion. The sound just radiates to infinity.
The best example was Natalie Merchant’s Tigerlily that I heard last night. I never heard it like that before. Her voice was so pure and the instrumentation unadulterated.
So far I also have listened to Arnold Overtures, Miles Davis Kind of Blue and Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti among others and with every tape there is a noticeable difference, which in retrospect made all the upgrades you did with the Ultima One not just worthwhile but absolutely essential.
