THE MUSIC, SPEAKER

Gustav Klimt started with the creation of the Beethoven Frieze for the Viennese Secession in 1897. The Secession was no dogmatic federation espousing artistic „rights“ and „wrongs“; rather, this was a group of forward thinkers – with Klimt on top – exploring new departures in creation, urging artists of every persuasion – architecture, painting, music – to come together for the sake of progression.

Standing for the unconventional, for freedom from constraints of any kind, Klimt created a worldwide symbol for Jugendstil.

The Beethoven Frieze ranks among the major works of the Viennese Jugendstil and can only be comprehended in the context of this age and as a product of it – an age shaped by tendencies toward new departures in art, by an interest in international connections and by the attempt to bring the various arts together.

The Frieze belongs to the most significant creations of Gustav Klimt, such as „The Kiss“, and the devoted music lover´s – and avowed Beethoven admirer´s – masterpiece „The Music“.

Art would never be experienced in quite the same way again.

Passion, skill, leadership, innovation, vision, harmony, teamwork: the words that evoke Klimt and his Art were also always target for Vienna Acoustics and the company’s latest achievement, the first model out of the Klimt Series, „THE MUSIC“.

THE KISS SPEAKER – What a beautiful speaker!

With these few words elegantly crafted and prominently presented above the entry of the famous Secession located within Vienna´s city center, the beginning of Jugendstil was begun. The Jugendstil was no dogmatic federation espousing artistic rights and wrongs; rather, this was a group of forward thinkers exploring new departures and destinations in creation. At their foundation was the urging of every persuasion including architecture, painting and music, all combining together for the sake of progression.

As the art movement´s most significant contributor and father, Gustav Klimt has been forever immortalized into the art fabric that is Vienna.

Passion, skill, leadership, innovation, vision, harmony, teamwork: the words that evoke Klimt and his Art were also always target for Vienna Acoustics and the newest release paying homage to Klimt´s masterpiece, „THE KISS“.

THE GRAND REFERENCE

Scale, power and grandeur are all conferred by its name. As with all models in the Grand™ range, the composer name is selected based on the scale, complexity and power of performance for which they are best known. The term Concert Grand, like the piano of the same designation, refers to its ability to deliver this level of performance in large concert halls and music rooms.

The new 3-way Concert Grand delivers far more than just power and scale. The careful listener will delight in the lucidity and clarity of the all-important middle ranges where virtually all instruments find their tonic origins.
A truly extraordinary product that will re-calibrate your expectations.

THE BEETHOVEN BABY GRAND REFERENCE

Listening for the first time to our new BEETHOVEN Baby Grand REFERENCE™ leaves you breathless with a few burning questions: How on earth is this slim beauty able to create such a soundstage? Where is the hidden subwoofer? And where does this intensity come from?
At the heart of the design stand our brandnew spidercone drivers, one 6 inch midrange and two 6 inch woofers, all with our patented flat spidercone within a new construction, consisting of 2 distinct cones – the all new Composite Cone. The plane surface of the spidercone offers the advantage of precise, piston-like movement. Any diaphragm should move in and out as one unit, not as a quivering mass of uncorrelated vibrations. It should move as a perfectly-solid piston. The flat cone is extremely stiff, with bracings of a height of 18 mm (bass) and 14 mm (mid), yet light, respectively, further reinforced by glasfibers in our new X4P™ mixture.

The rearside bracings are constructed in a way that the whole impulse energy is allocated evenly via the whole surface of the flat cone. Every square centimeter delivers the same impulse as its neighbours, which results in revolutionary impulse response control. As our cone/diaphragm-construction builds upon a very large voice coil, the
radiating surface in its middle is large, thereby making it an significant sound determinant. The countless listening testings brought forth such an unexpected unique combination the we gave it a new name, the Composite Cone.
The 5 cm area is now an inverted dome made of woven fabric, double-coated on its rearside. Perfection was achieved by listening to various axial positions, with extraordinary homogenous results by employing a recessing of 8mm. The sum total of the features of the Composite Cone is a peerless symbiosis. Furthermore, one of the reasons why the woven fabric center cone interacts so nicely, is its affinity to the fabric material of our highly musical, hand-coated silk dome tweeter, designed by Vienna Acoustics, hand-crafted by a Scandinavian team of specialists.

THE HAYDN SE REFEENCE SPEAKER

It’s excitement and eager expectancy – and sometimes, like in the case of HAYDN SE SIGNATURE, pure amazement.

We were fortunate and more than thankful to be able to release some beautifully recognized reference designs in the last years, all carefully and painstakingly developed – so why wouldn’t we dare the borders towards the impossible also with our smallest family member?

So what do you unpack?

HAYDN SE SIGNATURE features our patented spidercone X3P woofer, providing – by special placement of the ribs – increased output, extension and control. Dubbed X3P comprises three additional polymers in its composition, which allows the driver to provide an extraordinarily wide bandwidth, while possessing a level of inner detail, quietness, and control. Like its considerably grander companion, BEETHOVEN Concert Grand REFERENCE,

HAYDN SE SIGNATURE features our exclusive handcoated silkdome tweeter, which reveals even the slightest nuances with natural ease, while extending well down into the midrange regions.

A dedicated linear crossover layout, with the copper circuit paths carefully arranged, takes into account the potential for sympathetic and parasitic interactions among crossover components that may inject unwanted noise and distortions while allowing for more direct and efficient transfer of signal to the drivers which leads to a greater level of detail and purity.

Just as our most exclusive designs, HAYDN SE SIGNATURE is carefully built to true furniture grade standards and finished with the same outstanding veneer-wrapping technique, as well as with our true piano lacquer.

HAYDN SE SIGNATURE’s small size will fool you. Please close your eyes and you may find yourself in front of a symphonic orchestra, in the crowd up front stage, or in an intimate piano bar.

Vienna Acoustics Speakers

Despite all of the effort that goes into the development of a perfect prototype speaker, there remains a potential barrier to achieving great sound in the customer’s living room: the way in which the individual loudspeaker is manufactured. During the design and development period, Peter Gansterer works with components – such as drivers, crossover parts, and cabinets – of the highest integrity, and these serve as a reference standard. For example, drivers: During actual production, we order large quantities of drivers. During sound development, Peter works with sound tuning in the low tenth of a dB on the frequency response level. Yet even though we use only the best suppliers and stringently demand the tightest of level-tolerances, the production drivers we receive can deviate as much as +/- 1.5 dB!

To tackle this challenge, we at Vienna Acoustics are making efforts that we believe to be unparalleled in the industry. After development of a new speaker is finalized, two things happen:

1. We analyze all significant parts that Peter used in the reference standard, and we find identical examples to keep as part-references. These part-references are the benchmark by which incoming part shipments are measured. Taking again the example of drivers: When we receive tweeters for production, all of them are measured against the reference tweeter and are subsequently assigned to appropriate categories. (An average number of categories would be four to seven.) One of these is the category of “tweeters to be sent back to supplier because drivers not within tolerance according to specification book.” For each of the remaining categories of the drivers we retain, we build crossovers in our factory. These crossovers are modified in component values to match the drivers perfectly, thus attaining the same total result achieved in the reference speaker. It goes without saying that individual testing has been performed on the components of the crossovers themselves.

2. In addition to using individual part-references, we manufacture a second complete reference speaker, which has absolutely the same measurements as Peter´s final reference speaker and so exactly replicates the intended sound. Each newly manufactured speaker must be identical to this second point of reference, down to tiny tolerances that have been defined by the designer through listening tests. Specially trained managers compare and study the levels of frequency response, impedance curves, and waterfall plots (to track down resonances). To avoid variations due to changes in temperature, humidity, and minor measuring equipment drift, the reference speaker is measured only minutes before the newly manufactured speaker is measured. As a result of our determinations, we make adjustments to optimize some of the speakers (typically 15%) with post-processing (e.g., complete driver replacement). Judging exactly which of the parts requires post-processing to achieve the perfect sound requires exacting skill and considerable experience.

Such patience and precision is vital to the Vienna Acoustics sound, and we believe this is why we get so much enthusiastic feedback about its musicality. It all takes a lot of effort, but we’re proud to know that each customer who unpacks a Vienna Acoustics speaker will get the masterpiece the designer intended.

All of our efforts toward impeccable manufacturing and cabinet construction, which you can read about in the various pages of this site, are executed on such a high level that the quality is readily apparent to experts and casual listeners alike. This is an important part of our success: our quality can be heard and seen clearly.
Through years of research and practical experience, we have found ways to manufacture high-end loudspeakers in such an efficient way that no compromise needs to be made, in any respect. Take our cabinets as an example: state-of-the-art joineries turn out our furniture-grade enclosures at a fraction of the normal price. How can this be done? The main secret is quality control: the cabinets pass through a large number of quality control stages on their way from creation to your home. It starts with our inspection of veneer purchases and continues through the checkpoints at the joineries, where our senior managers make a point of being on-site at critical dates. When the cabinets arrive in our manufacturing facility, we inspect each and every one in detail, referring scrupulously to the vast number of points in our specification book (which sets the specifications for the joineries in the first place). As it turns out, our joineries don’t have it easy: our examination is so rigorous that almost invariably a part of each delivery (typically 7% to 10%) is sent back.
This same quality control is the standard on all of our speaker’s individual components, and of course it’s also imposed on the complete speaker itself. When the speakers have been manufactured and measured -see value – sound management – then the last – and for our customers most important – step before shipment takes place: each speaker is examined by two high-grade staff specialists with a detailed overall-quality checklist of more than forty points.
At Vienna Acoustics, we have a passion for music and a drive for perfection. These led us to refine the manufacturing and quality assurance process to be certain that each customer receives a speaker of unrivaled quality.
